Kept hearing Tom Felton tweet about this documentary on BBC3 and I have to say I was surprised by it.

[Error: unknown template qotd]Anything to do with the Hallyu Wave. As someone who has struggled to find her place and sort out an ongoing ethnic identity (BBC/banana/英国华裔), I owe it to Hallyu and I guess the J-music fandom for bringing me the Asian music, for preventing me from doing something incredibly insane when I was 16 years old (although that particular thought does creep up now and then and I'm much older now). In Hallyu...I owe one particular group a lot of things, even though yes they're no longer the full team.

Leaving doesn't mean I want to get married and have kids. It's something different.

Still unemployed since getting the boot seven weeks ago. I'm waiting for feedback on internships and job applications. They have late deadlines which might be good if you want to take your time writing good answers but it's painful to wait when you want to do something ASAP and get out of Job Seekers Allowance. Honestly, does the government think reducing the benefits or cutting the amount for lazy Brits and migrants is going to be any help for those who are genuinely looking for work and not family folk? My country is poor and it shows but I hate the snotty rich people who come here from overseas like they own everyone.

Well my job advisor can see what I'm doing since I've registered on Universal Jobmatch. I'm not lying on the job hunting but it is utterly depressing. I have to do approximately 12 applications in a week. WTFH? I really don't want to fly away since I can't fend for myself whatsoever. Though it might be the last option. Or go for another course to build up my skills - a subject I dislike in particular.

Anyway I was tempted to apply as a volunteer at Hyper Japan 2013 in July but then it might affect my so-called schedule to meet any famous people who have been invited as guests. You never know if it is someone you like. I went crazy with the 3 day pass last November. I did a lot of geeky stuff and met a Jrock band I had never heard of and became a fan after seeing them perform live. Conventions hadn't been on my mind since I crash landed into the arms world of Big Bang and so far LFCC hasn't gotten any guests I actually know very well aside from Sarah Wayne Callies who I remember best in Prison Break.

Been catching up on Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji season 1 and nearly done with that finally before moving onto season 2 which I hear is not very good though I'll persevere in order to see who the new characters are. Still fuming over how I didn't buy a Ciel plushie at Hyper Japan or Collectormania London last year. My Sebastian plushie needs a Ciel...or a Grell haha.

If Showmasters got a Vampire Diaries guest at their forthcoming conventions and I happen to know him/her it'll be a risk to meet that person because I'm behind on TVD in general. I stopped watching hte series after the mid-season break finished but that might've been a mistake since I apparently missed out on a lot of stuff and with the arrival of the Originals spin off I have a lot to catch up on.
I got inspired by this fandom post on Asian Junkie and another post discussing International and Korean fans in Kpop fandom. Even the UnitedKpop post on race got my brain buzzing.

As someone who used to be a regular contributor in many kinds of fandoms ranging from Rurouni Kenshin, Heroes to Jrock music fangirling and a lot more in the days (yes I used to be a rabid fangirl who did those bad things like bashing characters and regretted it), I have recently developed an understanding as to why a large number of native Asians tend to be...selfish and not always wanting to share their fandom culture. Mainly because it's started to happen to me as I get older. I think this is a bad sign.

I was browsing Tumblr for more Silver Ash things to reblog and a fan had linked to Ling's blog post which is on Silver Ash's official website.  The entire entry is quite honestly brilliant and I could fangirl for hours but I'll just explain in a nutshell.  Ling generally discusses the ups and downs Silver Ash had as a band and also explains a problem China has when it comes to Visual Kei, which confirms my theory as to why a lot of native Chinese and a few BBCs from my last Chinese class were all WTF you listen to Jrock? to me when I told them my cracky but diverse music tastes.  I sensed they also were hinting it's not possible for Chinese people to like Japanese music because of...grudges.  It could be one reason but not the biggest one.

I respect Chinese people who maintain their Chinese identity without sounding like an arrogant fool but also show how much they admire Visual Kei or anything Japanese-related (huzzah Chinese Otakus).  This paragraph echoes my thoughts:-

Visual Kei has a big culture and history in Japan. Most importantly, Japan has a strong manga culture. In East Asia, there is a long history of appreciating beautiful men and men’s makeup. Japan remains respectful of those elements of culture, which also influence their manga culture. China, however, no longer respects that kind of culture and in general, Chinese people dislike people who are too unique or “special.” Though Japanese culture emerged from ancient China, they created their own aesthetics. Visual Kei is Japanese style Glam rock. For Chinese musicians, they can dress in a Visual style as well, but they can’t be accepted by society, even by other rockers. Unfortunately, China doesn’t have enough “space” for alternative culture. In many Chinese rock fans’ mind, “Visual kei” bands in China are just some cosplayers joining together to play some stupid cover songs. That might be another reason why Visual Kei is not very popular in China.

The last two sentences sum up my little issue with China and how they treat such an alternative music style.  It briefly reminds me of the time when X Japan were forced to cancel their Beijing gig in 2011 because of technical and production issues which doesn't sound right.  I suspect the government just didn't want a legendary Jrock band to play in Beijing's biggest venue that has been used previously by other megastar musicians.  Yet L'aruku managed to go ahead with their Shanghai gig back in 2005 without much problems.  Come to think of it even Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong can be iffy with some obscure things and might ban them or protest to stop them (I've been to these countries too).  Adam Lambert attracted Muslim protesters prior to his first KL gig during the Glam Nation Tour.

I know it's wrong to judge a country like China before visiting it though I have had personal interactions with native Chinese people when they visit England and occasionally I am reacting with a "head meet table" feeling.  I want to visit China in person one day just because it is supposedly the big Motherland of all Chinese but it will be difficult to tackle my current feelings towards the country.  Boo to stressful events from my past.
I can only react in fangirl bullet points...and because a Hal icon suits this post

SHINee's Taemin on piano and singing with IU. I was going through my Kpop Youtube playlist and was rewatching some videos. This was included. It is simply sugary sweetness. Taemin and IU are ridiculously sweet I fear my teeth will all be ripped out. Last time that happened was with Kinomoto Sakura of the series Card Captor Sakura. The Hanyan and random Hoe were too much.

Taemin and IU sing SNSD's Gee plus SHINee's Juliette and Hello.

I also found SHINee's cover of Super Junior's Sorry Sorry. Well now guys...you're trying to seduce me aren't you? It worked with Lucifer I have to admit.

An entire weekend of craziness. The fangirl in me has never been this mad.

Is GD okay with cats as well as dogs? I remember his super cute pic with a kitty a while ago i.e. this one and then when I was watching his live performance of Crayon I noticed his shirt had a cat face. I remember seeing him cuddling dogs but then again it could've been the other guys. Drats too many Korean Nam Dong Saeng are being all lovey-dovey with their pets that I lose track.

Anyway I think GD could pass as a cat. He's just got that...cute cat aura. Maybe if I get loads of cats I'll name one of them GD along with Loki, Ciel and Sebastian. That Crayon MV is ridiculous crack. It's all over the place. When GD was dressed up as that girl and showing off "her" well-rounded bum, that wasn't really his bum was it? XD I mean, imagine his bum being curvier than Pippa Middleton's O_O.

I'm quite worried about the Big Bang London concert selling out fast. I'll probably have no luck with the ticket. Will attempt the Live Nation Thursday presale to see what I can get but it looks like I'll opt for the £90 seat. But I'm so bloody tempted by the standing. I'll probably die like I did at X Japan last year but with the wider stage layout in Wembley Arena hopefully it won't be so bad. I want good photos too and to catch something from the guys. Or even get splashed by water. I've had a bit of water splashed by Gackt and X Japan (thank you Toshi hoho).

Want :')

Aside from wanting cute plushies of Yoshiki, Ciel Phantomhive and Kenshin I have to say this pricey Loki figure is tempting. It almost looks like Tom Hiddleston.

I would also definitely buy the Mischief fragrance from here since I'm curious on the smell. The problem is I have a skin allergy when it comes to wearing perfume so I don't want to risk spraying it on myself to get itchy skin and a rash. Maybe the fragrance could pass as an air freshener for my home XD

Ghosts

I need to stop dreaming about ghosts. It kind of made me panic last night. I was with a group of people, including Lafayette from True Blood (guess the Trubie in me is catching up) and he was asking if I was ok because he could see I was quite scared :/

First my missing cat showed up again a few days ago in my dream and then I get to ghosts. Weird. Sadly I've not had a dream about Loki or Tom Hiddleston yet no matter how much my inner fangirl would like it. I did see the Thor film photo book in Forbidden Planet and I wanted it so badly. The photos and concept pictures are great but it's so heavy and nearly £30. No way can I buy it with my situation. Although Lee Chong Wei's autobiography I might consider. It's a little cheaper.

After all these years I still miss my cat. Absolutely no way I could commit to getting another one. It's like trying to get pregnant and start a family. If I did want cats in my so-called new home I'm calling one of them Sebastian...just because of Sebastian from Kuroshitsuji :P The other cat could be Ciel or Heechul LOL
I don't object to dogs and genuinely think they can be adorable as well as loyal pets. What I do object to is the shear hate that cats get (mostly from "dog lovers"). I've been noticing this from certain people IRL.

Not sure if some of Animanga folk on f-list are familiar with Venus Palermo but she's really popular on Youtube with her doll make-up and dress-up tutorials. I'm completely aware of the drama she and her mother has been causing these past months towards other Otakus and many vloggers but I won't talk about that here.

What I will say is that I always hate it when 'normal' people assume quite a lot of things when it comes to the Elegant Gothic Lolita style. I even get annoyed with the stupidity towards Visual Kei, namely the homophobia towards the Jrock men who are happy to glam themselves with dazzling costumes or a lot of make-up. Of course Weeaboos are terrible when they can be but I don't object to Gothic Aristocrats or Gothic Lolitas if they're kind people having fun dressing up and smiling at the camera while walking around conventions and look great at the same time.

Daybreak aka a daytime show in the UK that has flopped since day one invited Venus and her mother onto the show to talk about the weird style. I don't care if Helen is a normal mother who would be horrifed if her own daughter dressed like Venus, she had no right to say that on live tv in front of the guests. I sent a lot of annoyed tweets to the Daybreak twitter page with links to photos of the Elegant Gothic Lolita and Elegant Gothic Aristocrat clothing to show that Gothic = / = living doll who always looks like prey for the typical paedophile. This style has much more than being a bloody doll showing off your 'parts.' Venus, yes, her make-up makes her look like a real doll it's rather disturbing but not every single girl looks like her. Some don't go that far.

Daybreak, you should've done your f*cking homework. I think Mana should go on the show, give Helen and Dan the evil glare while 'educating' them about EGL. I think the entire building would go very dark when Mana arrives.
Went on Friday and Saturday. Made use of my complimentary ticket given to me by Tucky's Anime :D I had paid for the Saturday fast track tickets last year but I was hoping to win extra tickets so my parents could follow me. Sadly that didn't happen and the complimentary ticket ended up being only one admission so that was fine for me. I just left work early and took a look around on the first day in Brompton Hall.

Kimono de Go. Where I got my Kimono transformation on Saturday.

I actually tried one banana covered in Strawberry icing, right after I ate a huge Okonomiyaki. Filled me up for the rest of the afternoon. Got plenty of WTF stares as I walked around the venue, eating my banana.

Sebastian plushie I bought from @hyperjapanevent 2012 on Friday on Twitpic

I think I probably stayed for about 2-3 hours. Left after midday when I arrived before 9:30am on Sat morning. Had to go through a tunnel from one end of Earls Court 1 before it lead me to inside before the escalators. Cosplay was common. Saw loads of Gothic Lolitas (black girls being Lolitas, white girls being Lolitas... even a white man in his 40s crossdressing as a Lolita - don't ask) plus four girls cosplay Ciel and Sebastian from Black Butler.

I recently bought another plushie online from Tucky's Anime - Bun Bun/Usa-chan from Ouran :D
I noticed Yahoo UK were trending True Blood on their website, assuming this was in light of its return to the FX channel. Season 4 just started here in the UK but I've already watched it xD.

This then lead me to this crazy article from the notorious Guardian website ~
